A Sweet Treat to Celebrate the Autumnal Equinox

I love the first day of Fall. Just the idea of the change in season is enough to reinvigorate me. The leaves are turning gold and red, and a breeze is tinged with a hint of cooler air.

To celebrate not only the change in season, but also the return of a favorite short story, Tasting Camilla, I've included a recipe for a delicious treat.

CRANBERRY UPSIDE DOWN CAKE

Ingredients:

1 box yellow cake mix

4-5 cups raw cranberries (washed)

2 ½ cups white sugar

1 cup brown sugar

1 stick of butter  (¼ lb)

1 cup walnut halves or pieces

Preheat oven to 350 degrees

Mix yellow cake mixture as instructed on box and set aside.

Slice stick of butter into thin slices. Put butter evenly over the bottom of a 9 X 12in pan. Sprinkle on walnuts. In separate bowl, mix cranberries, white sugar and brown sugar. Spread mixture over walnuts. Pour cake mixture over everything.

Bake 45-50 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes. Flip over onto flat plate and serve.

October 1st will see the return of Tasting Camilla, my vampire erotica, republished through Cobblestone Press. I encourage you to give in to a Vampiric Indulgence, where pleasure and pain might just be all about perspective.
