Reflections of Independence Day

As I sit here I can't help but consider our founding fathers and their vision for the United States. I believe that a lot of the potential they saw in this country came from a belief in personal responsibility.
The responsibility we all have as citizens to appreciate our freedoms and our Constitution upon which those freedoms are founded. Our country was built upon revolution. This great need for freedom from oppression and servitude.
I can imagine our founding fathers meeting in secret to discuss the coming revolution but I doubt they could ever imagine the great country they would bring forth into the world.
The U.S.A has always answered the call of those in crisis. We have always been willing to shed our blood in a foreign land for those people who cry out for mercy and justice.
As we fought and spilled blood to free this land from those who would deny us freedom, so too do we now send our soldiers off to foreign lands for those innocents who can only dream of what we have in the United States.
I believe our founding fathers would be proud of who we are as Americans.
I believe their strength of conviction lives on in the hearts of those of us who support our military and know the price of freedom is paid for in blood, but there is no greater honor than those who would sacrifice for another.
Below is my pick for an excellent patriotic read by the late Chris Kyle, who was an amazing Navy SEAL. The book is an interesting read and one for the keeper shelves, especially if you enjoy history and firearms.

1)      American Gun: A History of the U.S. in Ten Firearms; Authors Chris Kyle and William Doyle.

GOD BLESS our United States of America.
